About the Patient
Mrs Sangeeta Kumbhar experienced severe abdominal pain for several months and was unable to find a clear diagnosis initially. Surgery was advised as the appropriate treatment. The procedure was successfully completed, and her recovery has been positive.
In the Patient's Words
"A few months ago, I suddenly fell ill with severe stomach pain, and despite tests, we couldn't get a clear diagnosis. My son-in-law Omkar and daughter Payal recommended Medicover Hospitals in Navi Mumbai. After consulting Dr Deepak Ahire, we came to know that it was a lump in the stomach that required surgery. Dr Ahire, along with Dr Amrit Raj, took the time to reassure us about the team and the treatment plan. I am very relieved that the operation was successful and I am very grateful for the excellent care provided."
What is Periampullary Cancer?
Periampullary cancer is a term for cancers that originate near the ampulla of Vater, a small, crucial opening where the pancreatic and bile ducts join before emptying into the small intestine (duodenum). Because of this location, these cancers can affect several nearby organs, including the bile duct, pancreas, and duodenum itself. Symptoms often include jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes) due to the blockage of the bile duct.
