About Rahul's Treatment
Rahul's journey began with what he first assumed was minor acidity-related discomfort. However, when severe chest pain returned during an office sports tournament, his colleagues acted fast and brought him to Medicover Hospitals, Navi Mumbai. After a detailed evaluation, tests confirmed that he had a heart blockage requiring urgent attention. Under the expert care of Dr Brajesh Kunwar and the Cardiology team, Rahul underwent a timely Primary Angioplasty. His successful recovery demonstrates how early medical intervention can prevent life-threatening complications and save lives.
In the Patient's Words
"I had experienced mild pain in my chest, but when it returned during a work tournament, my colleagues brought me to Medicover Hospitals in Navi Mumbai. After tests, it was confirmed that I had a heart blockage. Dr Brajesh Kunwar provided the necessary treatment and managed all the procedures. I am deeply thankful to him for the care I received. The hospital staff and management were supportive and cooperative throughout my time here."
What is Chest Pain?
Chest pain refers to discomfort anywhere between the neck and upper abdomen. While often linked to non-cardiac causes like acidity, muscle strain, or stress, it can be an important warning sign of serious heart conditions such as:
- Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction)
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
- Angina (reduced blood flow to the heart)
When the chest pain is due to a blockage, the heart muscle is deprived of oxygen. It is a critical condition known as ischemia. Common diagnostic tests include:
- Electrocardiogram (ECG)
- Cardiac enzyme blood tests
- Angiography to identify blockages
What Treatment did we provide to Rahul at Medicover?
Given the seriousness of Rahul's heart blockage, Primary angioplasty was performed as the optimal emergency treatment. This minimally invasive cardiac procedure restores blood flow to the heart quickly, reducing damage to the heart muscle.
The procedure included:
- Inserting a catheter through the wrist or groin to reach the blocked artery
- Inflating a tiny balloon to widen the artery and compress the blockage
- Placing a stent to keep the artery open long-term
Thanks to rapid diagnosis, expert treatment by Dr Brajesh Kunwar, and strong teamwork across the cardiac unit, Rahul recovered well and returned to his normal routine with renewed confidence in his health.
