About Mrs B. Lakshmi’s Treatment & Recovery

Mrs B. Lakshmi, from Chandanagar, was brought to Medicover Hospitals in a very critical condition with Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) and severe breathing difficulty. Her condition was life-threatening, and she had already been shifted from another hospital because they were unable to stabilize her oxygen levels.

At Medicover Hospitals, Chandanagar, our emergency and ICU teams immediately assessed her condition and started advanced ventilatory and critical care support. With continuous monitoring and expert treatment, her condition gradually improved, and she was successfully shifted from the ICU to the general ward, showing remarkable recovery.

Patient Words

“My sister-in-law was extremely critical and struggling to breathe. Other hospitals could not stabilize her, so we brought her to Medicover Hospitals, Chandanagar. She was immediately taken into emergency and shifted to ICU, and we were very scared during that time.

The doctors and nurses used advanced ventilation support and treated her with great care. Slowly, her condition improved and she was shifted to the ward. Today, she is recovering well and we are deeply thankful to the entire Medicover team for saving her life. Their treatment, response, and professionalism were truly outstanding.”

What is Diabetic Ketoacidosis?

Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious complication of diabetes that happens when the body produces very high levels of blood acids called ketones. It usually occurs when there is not enough insulin in the body.

Patients may experience excessive thirst, frequent urination, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, confusion, fruity-smelling breath, and difficulty breathing.

If untreated, DKA can become life-threatening which is why immediate hospital treatment is critical. Early diagnosis, IV fluids, insulin therapy, and continuous monitoring help stabilize the patient and prevent complications.
