What is Ossification of the Ligamentum Flavum (OLF)?

Ossification of the Ligamentum Flavum occurs when the ligament in the spinal canal becomes thick and turns into bone. This may compress the spinal cord or the nerves and cause:

Back pain or stiffness
Numbness or weakness in the legs
Difficulty walking

In advanced stages, surgery is required to remove the ossified part to relieve pressure and prevent further nerve damage.

Treatment We Provided

Mr Das underwent Decompression and Excision of Ossified Ligament Flavum performed by Dr Burhan Salim Siamwala. During the procedure, the affected ligament was removed to release the compressed nerves. After surgery, he received proper post-operative care and physiotherapy, resulting in a visible improvement in mobility.
