The birth of a premature baby can be overwhelming, especially when immediate medical support is required. The newborn was promptly admitted to Medicover Hospitals, Kurnool, where urgent and specialized care was provided. Under the careful supervision of Dr K Sindhura, an experienced Pediatrician, the baby received continuous monitoring and respiratory support. After nearly three weeks of dedicated treatment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the baby showed steady improvement and made a successful recovery, bringing great relief and joy to the family.
Patient Words
"When our baby was born early and struggled to breathe, we were extremely frightened. The immediate care and constant support at Medicover Hospitals, Kurnool, gave us hope. Dr Sindhura and the entire NICU team explained everything patiently and took excellent care of our baby day and night. Watching our baby recover and finally come home breathing on their own is something we will always be thankful for. Their care truly saved our child."

What is a Breathing Problem in Premature Baby
Breathing problems in premature babies often occur because the lungs are not fully developed at birth. This condition is commonly known as Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS). In premature infants, the lungs may not produce enough surfactant, a natural substance that helps keep the air sacs in the lungs open. Without it, breathing becomes difficult, and the baby may not get enough oxygen.
Signs of breathing problems in premature babies usually appear soon after birth and may include:
- Fast or labored breathing.
- Grunting sounds while breathing.
- Widening of the nostrils during breathing.
- Bluish discoloration of the skin due to low oxygen levels.
- Visible pulling in of the chest while trying to breathe.
These conditions require immediate and careful medical management to support breathing and ensure healthy development of vital organs.
