About Diksha Gupta Daughter's Recovery
Mrs Diksha Gupta, from Hyderabad, came to Medicover Hospitals, Hitec City, for her regular obstetric care under Dr B Radhika, Senior Consultant Gynecologist and Obstetrician. During her pregnancy, she was identified as a high-risk case. At the time of delivery, the baby had a cord looped around the neck, and the heart rate began dropping, which required immediate medical intervention.
To ensure the safety of both mother and child, the medical team performed an emergency Cesarean Section (C-Section). The baby was born preterm at 31 weeks with very low birth weight, and was then cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) by the specialist neonatology team.
Patient Mother's Words
"I came to Medicover Hospitals for my pregnancy consultations under Dr Radhika. I had a high-risk pregnancy, and she treated me with great care throughout. Due to a cord around the baby's neck and her heart rate dropping, I had to undergo an emergency C-section.
My baby was born at 31 weeks and admitted to the NICU. The NICU doctors, nurses, and staff were excellent. They took care of her so well. My baby recovered, gained weight steadily, and was discharged earlier than we expected.
I am extremely thankful to Dr Radhika and the entire Medicover Hospital staff for their care, support, and guidance." -Mrs Diksha Gupta
What is a Preterm Birth?
A Preterm Birth occurs when a baby is born before 37 weeks of pregnancy. Preterm babies may have:
- Very low birth weight
- Underdeveloped lungs or organs
- Difficulty in feeding or maintaining body temperature
Because of these challenges, they often require specialised care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where they can be monitored and supported until they are stable.
What Treatment Was Provided at Medicover Hospitals?
At Medicover Hospitals, Hitec City, the following care was provided:
Emergency Cesarean Section (C-Section): Performed promptly to ensure the safety of the baby when the heartbeat dropped due to the cord around the neck.
NICU Care for Preterm Baby:
- Temperature regulation
- Respiratory support if required
- Feeding support and gradual weight gain monitoring
- Continuous neonatal specialist supervision
Postnatal Care for Mother: Guidance, recovery support, and follow-up consultations.
Thanks to timely intervention and dedicated NICU care, the baby improved steadily and was discharged in good health.
