About the Patient
Mrs Shital Ner from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar was in her seventh month of pregnancy when she experienced Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM). She visited Medicover Hospitals, Chh. Sambhajinagar for urgent care. The procedure was performed successfully, with the patient receiving continued support during her recovery.
In the Patient's Words
"From the moment I was admitted, the care and support from Dr Chandrashekhar Chavan and the team were excellent. Their guidance throughout the emergency gave me confidence. I am very thankful for the treatment and care provided." - Mrs Shital Ner.
What is PPROM?
PPROM (Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes) happens when the amniotic sac breaks before 37 weeks of pregnancy and before labor begins. It may cause:
- Leaking of amniotic fluid
- Risk of infection
- Preterm delivery
Management depends on the baby's gestational age and the mother's condition. Treatment may include:
- Monitoring mother and baby
- Medications for lung development
- Antibiotics to prevent infection
- Emergency delivery if needed
What Treatment did we provide to Shital Ner at Medicover?
Given the urgency of the PPROM diagnosis at seven months of pregnancy, the immediate clinical priority for Shital Ner was to deliver the baby safely before potential risks escalated. Dr Chandrashekhar Chavan and the team determined that an Emergency Cesarean Section was the optimal procedure. The clinical care included:
- Immediate assessment and stabilization
- Emergency C-Section recommended due to PPROM at seven months
- Safe delivery and newborn stabilization
- Post-operative care and recovery support
The timely intervention ensured the wellbeing of both mother and newborn.
