About T Raneir's Treatment
When T Raneir, a retired naval officer, experienced a sudden heart attack, his emergency medical journey led him to Medicover Hospitals in Chh. Sambhajinagar. The diagnosis revealed multiple arterial blockages, making the situation serious and time-sensitive.
Despite the critical nature of his condition, Mr Raneir found reassurance in the clear treatment plan explained by Dr Manish Puranik and the specialized cardiac team. A less-invasive approach to bypass surgery was recommended, focusing on effective treatment with reduced physical trauma. This experience reflects how expert decision-making and compassionate care can guide patients safely through life-altering cardiac emergencies.
Patient Words
After undergoing minimally invasive bypass surgery, I am deeply grateful for the expertise of Dr Manish Puranik and the entire cardiac team. The surgery was successful, but what truly stood out was the kindness and compassion shown by the nursing and housekeeping staff throughout my recovery. Their dedication and support have truly given me a second lease on life. I am extremely satisfied with the quality of care and the supportive environment at Medicover Hospitals.
What is a Heart Attack?
A heart attack occurs when blood flow to a part of the heart muscle is significantly reduced or completely blocked. This blockage is most often caused by a blood clot forming in a coronary artery, preventing oxygen-rich blood from reaching the heart muscle.
Without prompt treatment, the affected heart muscle can suffer permanent damage.
Common warning signs include:
- Pressure, tightness, or pain in the chest that may radiate to the arm, neck, jaw, or back
- Shortness of breath
- Cold sweats, dizziness, or sudden fatigue
- Nausea or indigestion-like discomfort
Immediate medical intervention is essential to restore blood flow and minimize heart damage. Depending on severity, treatment options include medications, angioplasty with stent placement, or bypass surgery.
What Treatment did we provide to T Raneir at Medicover?
At Medicover Hospitals, T Raneir was treated by Dr Manish Puranik, Consultant minimally invasive cardiac surgeon. Due to the presence of multiple arterial blockages, the most suitable treatment option selected was Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery.
This advanced bypass technique was chosen as an effective alternative to conventional open-heart surgery and involved:
- Performing the bypass through smaller incisions on the side of the chest
- Avoiding a full sternotomy (cutting through the breastbone), thereby reducing surgical trauma
- Using grafts to create new pathways for blood to flow around the blocked coronary arteries
The minimally invasive approach helped reduce post-operative pain, minimize scarring, and support a faster recovery. Thanks to this focused intervention and attentive post-operative care, Mr Raneir was able to recover well and return to his daily life with improved cardiac health.
