About Bhikchand Parikh's Treatment

Mr Bhikchand Parikh came to Medicover Hospitals, Nashik, with alarming symptoms of chest and back pain. Initial evaluation, including ECG, did not reveal the exact cause, leaving the family anxious. A detailed sonography later detected a 22mm gallstone leading to Acute Calculus Cholecystitis, requiring urgent surgical management.

Having experienced excellent services previously during a COVID-19 admission, the family placed their trust once again in Medicover. Under the expert care of Dr G B Singh, Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon, Mr Parikh underwent a laparoscopic gallbladder removal. The surgery was smooth, and his recovery was quick, with a safe discharge home.

In the Patient's Words

"My ECG was normal, but the sonography showed a 22mm stone, and we were worried. We remembered the positive experience we had earlier at Medicover, so we came here without hesitation. We received excellent guidance from Dr G B Singh. The laparoscopic surgery was successful, and we are thankful to the doctor and the entire hospital staff for their care and advanced facilities at an affordable range. Everything went smoothly and we are very happy with the treatment."

What is Acute Calculus Cholecystitis?

Acute Calculus Cholecystitis is a sudden and painful inflammation of the gallbladder caused by gallstones blocking the cystic duct. When bile cannot pass through, it builds pressure and infects the gallbladder wall.

Common symptoms include:

  • Suddenly, severe pain in the upper right abdomen
  • Pain radiating to the back or right shoulder
  • Fever, nausea, or vomiting
  • Worsening pain after meals

Since complications like infection or tissue death can occur, urgent surgical intervention is usually required.

What Treatment did we provide to Bhikchand Parikh at Medicover?

To relieve the blockage and inflammation, Mr Parikh underwent a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. This minimally invasive surgery was chosen for its benefits, including less post-operative pain, minimal scarring, and faster recovery.

The procedure included:

  • A detailed pre-operative diagnosis confirming acute inflammation
  • Four small incisions for laparoscopic access
  • Careful removal of the diseased gallbladder using advanced surgical technology

Mr Parikh responded well to the surgery and recovered quickly, returning home with complete relief from pain and with improved health.
