Pregnant woman with stage 3 breast cancer saved at Medicover.
Sep 17 2022 | Medicover Hospitals | HyderabadA 33-year-old woman, Fadumo Mohammad Omar from Somalia, was diagnosed with locally advanced stage 3 breast cancer when she was 12 weeks pregnant. With the cancer therapy, there was a high risk for the mother and child, but she wanted to continue with her pregnancy, choosing life with her baby!
When asked "What could have happened if the surgery/treatment was not done?" Dr. Saadvik Raghuram, Medical Oncologist from Medicover Cancer Institute, said, "Her cancer would have spread all over the body and eventually led to the death of both mother and child."
Medicover Cancer Institute took up this challenge to save the pregnant woman with breast cancer and her unborn baby. The woman was given chemotherapy treatment, and during this chemo course, the health of the mother and fetus were continuously monitored. Finally, she successfully completed all the courses of chemo and delivered a healthy baby boy.
With tears of joy, the family thanked Dr. Saadvik Raghuram and the entire team who accomplished a near miracle by saving a mother and child from a highly critical health condition. They are now in good health and Medicover Cancer Institute wishes them a healthy life in the future.
