Cefadroxil is a cephalosporin antibiotic which is used for treating various types of infections that is caused by bacteria. It is also used for treating bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, skin infections and throat infections. The medications are suitable for adults, older children and pregnant women.
Cefadroxil Uses
Cefadroxil is used for treating bacterial infections like staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumonia, Streptococcus pyogenes, Moraxella catarrhalis, E. coli, Klebsiella, and Proteus mirabilis, urinary tract infections, strep throat and tonsillitis. Cefadroxil is used for stopping the bacteria from multiplying by preventing the bacteria from forming the walls which surround them. Bacteria will not survive without any cell wall. Cefadroxil is more active against these bacteria.

How to take Cefadroxil ?
Cefadroxil is available in the form of capsules, tablet and suspension. The medications can be taken with or without food for every 12 to 24 hours. Take Cefadroxil medications at the same time every day. Follow the directions written on the prescription level and follow the doctor’s instructions. Cefadroxil should be taken with food for reducing nausea and stomach upset.
Dosage
Tablets: 1g
Capsules: 500 mg
Powder for suspension: 124, 250 and 500 mg/teaspoon
Adults:
Urinary tract infections: The normal dosage is 1 or 2 g per day in single or divided doses.
Skin infections: The usual dosage is 1 g per day in single or divided doses.
Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis: Treatment for group A beta-hemolytic streptococcal pharyngitis and tonsillitis 1 g per day in single.
Overdose
Overdose of a drug can be accidental. If you have taken more than the prescribed Cefadroxil tablets there is a chance of getting a harmful effect on your body’s functions. Overdose of a medicine can lead to some medical emergency.
Missed Dose
Missing one or two-dose of Cefadroxil won’t show any effect on your body. The skipped dose causes no problem. But with some medication, it won’t work if you don’t take the dosage on time. Storage
