Dr D S K Sahitya

Dr D S K Sahitya is a Clinical Hematologist and BMT specialist who treats diseases of the blood and bone marrow. She is known for her kind, patient-focused approach, in which she carefully listens, explains medical problems in very simple terms and helps patients and families feel calm and confident during treatment.

She cares for patients with conditions such as anemia, sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, multiple myeloma and other blood-related illnesses. She also manages bone marrow failure conditions and provides pre and post-bone marrow transplant care.

Dr Sahitya completed her MBBS from CMC Vellore, where she was a gold medalist and ranked among the best outgoing students. She then pursued an MD in Pediatrics from PGI Chandigarh, followed by a DM in Clinical Hematology, Hemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation from AIIMS, New Delhi, one of India's most reputed medical institutes.

Her advanced training enables her to perform and manage bone marrow transplants (BMTs), evaluate complex blood reports and guide patients through long-term follow-up and recovery. She also works closely with pediatricians, oncologists and other specialists to ensure complete and coordinated care.

Dr Sahitya is actively involved in medical research and academics, with publications in national and international journals and contributions to medical textbooks. Her work reflects her strong commitment to safe, ethical and evidence-based care.

• Coauthored research entitled "Renal Failure In Multiple Myeloma: A Retrospective Study At A Tertiary Care Centre " was presented at 2nd Annual Conference of IMAGe, ACTREC, Tata Memorial Center, Mumbai 11-12 May 2019
• Conducted research on "Profile of transfusion-dependent thalassemia children in North India" during MD training
• Written a Chapter entitled "Management of shock in children" in an IMPACT protocol textbook.
• Judged as 3rd Best Outgoing MBBS student of my batch from CMC Vellore
• Awarded Gold medal for scoring highest marks in Microbiology during MBBS training
