Dr Aneel Kumar joined the Department of Neurosurgery in 2007 at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, a leading tertiary care academic center in India. During his training, he conducted significant research on the efficacy of peripheral neurectomies for functional improvement in children with spastic cerebral palsy.
His research work was awarded Best Paper at the 36th Annual Conference of the Indian Society for Paediatric Neurosurgery (Kolkata, 2009) and was also featured among the Top 100 Abstracts at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Conference in 2010.
Dr Aneel Kumar also pursued advanced research in proteomics related to the pathophysiology of high-grade gliomas in collaboration with the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), India.
From 2012 to 2016, he served as teaching faculty at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences. During this tenure, he played a pivotal role in developing the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) program, initially assisting and later leading the initiative. He continues to mentor and coach neurosurgeons who are beginning to offer DBS and other functional neurosurgical interventions.
