What is Rhytidectomy?
A rhytidectomy, often called a facelift, is a cosmetic procedure that aims to restore the face's youthful appearance. It removes extra facial skin and reshapes the lower half of the face. It tightens loose, drooping skin around the jawline, sometimes known as "jowls." Deep wrinkles around the lips and nose and excess, sagging skin and fat around the chin and neck can all be removed. The technique can also be used in combination with surgery to improve the appearance of the forehead, cheeks, brows, and eyelids.
Rhytidectomy Cost In India
The cost of a rhytidectomy generally varies according to the city, and the hospital one chooses. The price of rhytidectomy in Hyderabad, Vizag, Nellore, Nashik and other cities can differ due to various factors. However, in Hyderabad, the minimum cost of rhytidectomy is Rs 2,50,000, and the maximum is Rs. 4,00,000.
|City||Average Cost Range|
|Hyderabad||Rs 2,50,000 to Rs. 4,00,000|
How To Prepare For Rhytidectomy?
Preparing for a facelift is identical to preparing for any other type of surgery.
Before the procedure, your doctor will do blood tests or a pre-surgical assessment.
The doctor will recommend you stop taking certain medications or alter your dose prior to treatment.
Your physician may also advise you to quit smoking.
To reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising, they may ask you to stop using aspirin, anti-inflammatory pain medicines, and herbal supplements.
How Is Rhytidectomy Done?
Facelift surgery is commonly done outpatient with local anaesthetics and sedatives or under general anaesthesia.
In a traditional rhytidectomy, the surgeon makes an incision in front of the ear that continues up into the hair or hairline and behind the ear into the hair-bearing scalp.
The surgeon carefully pulls the skin upward and posteriorly and removes the extra skin after lifting it off the deeper face muscles and fat.
A small incision or cut behind the chin can be used to tighten the skin and deeper tissue of the neck, which is known as a neck lift.
Sutures and possibly staples are used to seal the incisions. A drain may be inserted under the skin behind the ear for one or two days to remove extra blood and fluids. Bandages are placed in the area.
What Are The Types of Rhytidectomy?
Many facelift surgeries are dependent on whatever parts of the face and neck are addressed. Facelift procedures include the following:
- Traditional facelift
- SMAS facelift (SMAS rhytidectomy)
- Deep plane facelift
- Cutaneous (skin) facelift
