  • Skin redness, dryness, itching, scaling, moderate burning, or worsened acne may occur during the first 2-4 weeks of treatment. These symptoms usually diminish with continuous usage. If any of these symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Your doctor may advise you to lessen the frequency with which you take adapalene, alter its strength, or avoid taking it entirely.
  • If you have been directed to use this drug by your doctor, note that they have found that the advantage is greater than the risk of side effects. There are no side effects for many people who take this drug.
  • If any of these unlikely but severe side effects arise, inform your doctor immediately: very red/irritated skin, an extreme burning feeling, redness and watering of the eyes (conjunctivitis), swelling of the eyelids, discolouration of the skin.
  • It is unusual to experience a very serious allergic reaction to this drug. However, if you experience serious allergic reactions, including rashes, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), extreme dizziness, or difficulty breathing.
